ENERGY

Energy is the capacity of a physical body to perform work. The main characterisitcs of energy are:

-It can be transferred from one system to another.

-It can be stored and transported.

-It can be preserved.

-It degrades itself.

As we have just mentioned, one of the characterics of energy is that it can be transformed. This occurs in many situations of everyday life: the electrical energy is converted into heat and light in a light bulb, combustion energy in the engine of a car is converted into kinetic energy, chemical energy in a battery becomes electrical energy, the kinetic energy of a slap is converted into heat...and this is tru in any process in which energy is present.

The unit of measurement of energy in the International System is the joule (J). Other energy units are also used, for example, kW h (1kWh=3.600.000 J).

The enrgy possessed by a body is unique, however this can be manifested in nature in different ways, which in turn, are able to be converted into other types of energy: light, heating, electrical, thermal, chemical energy, etc.
